Hello my name is Jose Varela. I am currently a Westminster Agriculture student, working to                                             obtain my high school diploma. With my diverse experience and being a Westminster High                                             School student, I have worked extremely hard to the position of where I am. In the process                                               of completing my high school education, I have taken and completed my general                                                             requirements, thus far, to be on track of graduating. I have also chosen to specialize in the                                               area of Agriculture.I am an extremely involved member in the Future Farmers of America                                                 (FFA) organization, and the Westminster Police Department as an explorer.  By                                                                 participating in the FFA and Westminster Police Department I have developed my public                                                 speaking skills, and knowledge skills. I am continuing to develop my public speaking and                                               communication skills by participating in various public speaking competitions and even                                                   working on developing the chapter website. I am currently serving as the Secretary of the FFA for Southern California. My experience as an officer has allowed me to practice my abilities as a leader within our organization while showing commitment and dedication. This experience has served as the foundation point of my ability to lead others while still being able to remain accessible to change and growth. I believe that I would be able to articulate myself very well to community members and the public due to all the knowledge I have obtained. It is my goal to combine my leadership, speaking, and positive attitude skills to make a positive difference to the citizens of the City of Westminster. Like mentioned above, after graduation, I plan to attend Golden West College to obtain my general education, and then transfer to Cal Poly Pomona to major in Agriculture Education. My ultimate goal is to become a police officer for the city of Westminster, but in case of an emergency or if something occurs to me, I always have my degree as a plan B.
